Welcome to the home of IRARA, the Irvine Road Residents’ Association.

IRARA has been around for over 20 years and aims to improve the environment and the quality of life of those who live here or visit.

We have run street parties and sales, held social events such as our very popular quiz nights and the annual Christmas party, and led campaigns such as that to protect the Orchard situated behind Irvine Road and successfully campaigned for the designation of the footpath that runs alongside Philip Morant, St Benedict’s and the Girls’ High Schools.

We publish a regular newsletter. email updates and 2 facebook pages (see below).

“We are the fourth wealthiest nation in the world, and yet we have chosen for a long time to dress ourselves in rags. As a society we seem now to accept the poverty of our streets and spaces.”

Sir Stuart Lipton, Chairman, CABE

What we do

Over recent years, we have worked with the developer of the Irvine Road Orchard leading to the creation of the Irvine Road Community Orchard on the remaining half of the Orchard. We have established a charity to take on the lease of the Orchard with the aim of involving the community in its management.

Our current projects, in addition to the Orchard, are to restore our Victorian lamp-posts, re-instating our street trees and some more social events when circumstances allow.
