It still leaves the majority of the orchard intact while preserving green chain access to the open fields to the West.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Details have yet to be worked out as the lease\u00a0on\u00a0the 60% to be retained as an orchard is yet to be drawn up and the working arrangements of separating the two areas of land before housing development begins, but it is now safe to say that general agreement has been reached and everyone is keen to get on with the new project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_57\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57\" style=\"width: 945px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.irara.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_4043.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-57 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.irara.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_4043.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_4043\" width=\"945\" height=\"638\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.irara.org.uk\/httpdocs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_4043.jpg 945w, https:\/\/www.irara.org.uk\/httpdocs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_4043-300x203.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-57\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A lot of work will be required to bring the orchard back into full production while maintaining its wildlife value.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We will be keeping you up to date with work schedules (and requests for volunteers) as things progress, but right now the big news is that the decade-long fight to keep the orchard is over.
